What do you use your planner for?

I use my planner for both keeping me organized and as a creative outlet. I’m a mom to two busy little kids so keeping on track with our schedule is very important.

Advice for picking a planner.

Here are some questions to ask yourself when shopping.

1. What is my budget?

Planners range in price, you can get a beautiful Webster’s Pages planner for $30 or a Gillio for over $200! Set your budget first and you can narrow down your choices and not be tempted to go over.

2.Are pockets important to me?

Yes, that should be a question for you! Pocket configurations are endless in the planner world! Look at different models to decide how many, if any you need.

3. How do I plan on using a planner?

If you need lots of room and don’t want to necessarily carry it everywhere an A5 size planner is perfect! If you need a little less room and want something for “on the go” try a personal size planner or even a Traveler’s Notebook. Once you’ve decided on the size the hard part begins! Planners are like handbags, there are so many beautiful options to choose from! It really becomes personal choice at this point.

4. Will this planner inspire me?

I think in life you should be inspired by your surroundings whenever you can. I open my planner every day to make a To-Do list or schedule an appointment. If your planner is something you love you will use it more! Choose a color that makes you happy, because we all need an extra smile every now and then.

What do you love about being a planner girl?

The community hands down! Having other people that understand your love for pen and paper and share in your excitement is so much fun!

How long have you been planning?

I got my first real Filofax in 2013, but I’ve always had some type of planner. When I was little I had the spiral bound kind with pretty pictures on one side and your week on the other side. it’s been a long time passion that has developed over the years.

Where do you gain your inspiration?

I love going to Facebook and Instagram for inspiration! I love that there are planner girls and guys all over the world. You can learn so much from everyone’s different styles.

What is your style?

I like to keep things farely simple when planning. I need to be able to clear;ly see my scedule at a glance so I keep decorating to a minmum, kinda. I do like having cute stickers and washi on my page to make me smile, but whoite space is nice too.

 What’s in your pencil case?

I carry some of my favorite pens with me and then a few extras. I always have some clips in there and I carry a little skinny washi tape roll because you never know when you’ll need it! I also carry a pair of travel scissors for cutting up memorabilia or business cards to add in my Traveler’s Notebook. Since I plan in my TN I also carry some spare elastic in case mine breaks which I’ve never really had happen! Lastly I have a little tape runner.

One thing you’d advise someone who’s a beginner at planning.

Don’t be overwhelmed by other people’s planning style. Do what works for you! If that means never decorating your pages, that’s okay! If planning becomes a creative outlet for you, go with it! Just have fun!

What is your unicorn?

Well I try really hard not to get caught up in the “have to have it” addiction, but I have had my eye on a custom Van der speck with grey leather outside and yellow on the inside. The nice thing is it’s pretty expensive so I think it will forever be a “Unicorn” for me!
